The City finally completed the infrastructure upgrades on Worth Street and removed the barricades. Only in ‘22, we were finally able to take photos of the full facade!
Little House @ Towd Point
We completed our smallest and most fun restoration: the renovation of an 1030’s Atlantic holiday cottage is located in the unique landscape of the creek at Towd Point, in Southampton

The West Broadway loft was just featured in today's Archello editoria. This is a great example of one of TRA studio’s interiors. Designed in 2006 it still looks fresh and inviting today, the only change over the years have been the rotating collection of art pieces by Robert Traboscia and the exhibited Murano glass vintage collection.

The extensive restoration of this beautiful Brownstone in Cobble Hill in Brooklyn has been recently completed and signed-off by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, TRA not only we completely restored the facade and exterior architectural elements, we also restored, and replicated if necessary, the interior original details, from the open staircase and the plaster motifs, down to the wooden shutters and inlaid parquet floors.The rear of the brownstone has been restored, but we also introduced a new steel and glass conservatory structure, at once contemporary reminiscent of old end of the century greenhouses, and a modern landscaped court, which is a true calming oasis, complete with a fountain and a fish pond.
The new construction, 11 unit luxury condo building by TRA Studio at 128 East 28th Street reaches substantial completion.
City Realty highlights the project in their feature piece, discussing the new residential developments that are making a mark in Kips Bay ahead of the new $1.6 billion, 1.5 million-square-foot life sciences hub known as Science Park and Research Campus (SPARC).

The landmarks approval of 251-253 Fifth Avenue is one of the most significant buildings transforming NoMad from a commercial neighborhood to a vibrant residential destination.
City Realty Highlights the landmarks submission, which obtained approval after just two TRA Studio LPC meetings.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved a large-scale redevelopment project at 251-253 Fifth Avenue in NoMad, Manhattan. Led by TRA Studio Architecture, the project entails the demolition of a low-rise building at 253 Fifth Avenue, the construction of a new 20-story tower in its place, the restoration of a neighboring building at 251 Fifth Avenue, and the integration of both buildings into a singular structure.

TRA studio obtained the approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission for the two components of the 251-253 Fifth Avenue development: the restoration, of 251 Fifth Avenue, one of the first apartment buildings designed in 1872 by George B. Post, and the replacement of the existing 253 Fifth Avenue building, with a new mixed-use building.
The Commissioners noted that the restorative work will reinforce the architectural industrial character of the building in the historic district that the restorative work will bring the building up to a sound first-class condition and that it represents the appropriate use of the 74-711regulation, where the zoning is modified to create a more contextually appropriate new building and to conform to the individual landmark as well.
The 253 Fifth Avenue proposal confronts the challenge of producing thoughtful contemporary architecture. The new building is at once a suitable backdrop to the historic building and a proud presence along the Fifth Avenue street wall, it embraces the districts eclectic characteristics. respectfully standing out while supporting the significance of the historic landmark.

We are honored to be featured in the CITY REALTY- FUTURE NEW YORK Editorial. 251-253 Fifth Avenue , (the tower on the upper left), is one of the most significant 17 new projects coming to NYC.
TRA studio's design for the Fifth Avenue project corner site entails the restoration and partial reconstruction of 251 Fifth Avenue and the design for a 20 stories tower.
As it currently stands, the site features a Queen Anne-style French flats building designed by George B. Post at 251 Fifth Avenue and described by The New York Times as the home to some of the earliest apartment buildings in the city. Directly next door at 253 Fifth Avenue is a store and office building designed by Charles C. Thain. The proposal calls for the restoration of 251 Fifth Avenue and the replacement of 253 Fifth Avenue with a new mixed-use building.
A presentation prepared by TRA Studio depicts a new building with oversized windows, terra cotta panels, and a cantilever over the restored building. It also shows historically sensitive materials for the restoration of the old building, as well as numerous examples of the architectural elements seen throughout the historic district. The project calls for 86 new housing units, 30% of which would be rent-stabilized, and a full floor of amenities.

Hosted by the AIANY Building Codes Committee, the AIANY Historic Buildings Committee, and Illuminating Engineering Society NYC’s (IESNYC) Lighting Council, this program will present a panel of lighting designers and architects who will discuss their experiences with lighting New York City landmarks. Participants will also describe their experience with the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPD) review process.
This is an opportunity to learn about LPC’s review requirements and design guidelines for lighting of the interior/exterior of a landmarked building, and to understand of the “dos and don’ts” of the LPC approval process. Our discussion will also clarify the energy usage exemption clause in the NYC Energy Conservation Code.
